INDEPENDENCE DAY DIGEST
It has come to my notice that many a people have actually mixed up these two relevant, fundamental or basics of life, "Success and Excellence". Success literally means "the fact that you have achieved something that you want and have been trying to do or get while Excellence is the quality of being extremely good at what you have achieved.
The fact remains that you can be successful and at the same time not be excellent while on the other hand, you can be successful and be excellent. Take for instance; An undergraduate writes an examination, he was fully prepared and he gets in return an excellent result. He was asked to retake this same examination and he still came out with an outstanding or excellent result. Another undergraduate wrote the same examination ill prepared and he gets in return an excellent result through the back door. He was compelled to retake the same examination again and he failed outrightly.
Would you attest that the latter was excellent? Now, you realise that for you to be successful, it takes a process. That process would nurture or launch your ability to be very good at that which you aim to achieve. This process comes with the price of being patient but the exciting and fulfilling aspect of this process is to build your ability for excellence that is, the quality of being extremely good at what you want to achieve.
In a nutshell, for you to be excellent and successful in your career, it takes a lot of patience (process) to ride on the cycle of success and thereby unconciously laying a solid platform to be excellent.

SECRETS OF HAPPY PEOPLE
True happiness comes only from God. It locates those who find joy in
obeying His laws. The benefits enjoyed by these set of happy people are;
- They are like trees that grow beside a stream. They grow "green leaves" in all ramifications of their life.
- They bear fruits at the right time. That is, they live a productive life.
- Their 'leaves' do not dry up, i.e. their source of production (inspiration, academic excellence, finance, energy, wisdom, knowledge e.t.c) never dries up.
- They succeed in everything they do.

THE TRUTH ABOUT GRATITUDE
Appreciating
a kind hearted person or being thankful for a gesture, help or assistance is
one major aspect of life some have ignorantly paid less attention to. The
Yoruba philosophy; “a person that appreciates the good deeds of today will
automatically receive another” is one aged long idea about gratitude but
surprisingly, it really does not work that way. There’s quite more to it.
The
truth is gratitude (saying “THANK YOU”) should not be bestowed only to man but
principally to God. He is the one who can use anyone to provide that want you
had longed for. Take for instance, when you were in daring need of that
admission into the high school, college or university; was it man you prayed to
or God? Now you understand better.
So,
why won’t you give Him the first Thank you, that solemn heart of gratitude or
that joyful heart of praise? He should be the first and anyone else can follow.
Again,
consider this scene in your mind; a prisoner who had being I detention for
close to twelve years praying to God for mercy suddenly regains his freedom.
What do you think would be the first sentence he would voice out? “Thank you
Lord”, I suppose.
So,
you see if a man who had been in long suffering can actually acknowledge God
first by saying “Thank you Lord”, then why would you who received at ease deny
God of that first heart of appreciation?
Here
is a brief description of the benefits associated to thanking God first:
G – GIVES YOU THE
R – RIGHT ROOM FOR
RETURNS
A – AND
T – TAKES/LEADS YOU
INTO
E – ENORMOUS/PLENTY
F – FRUITS FROM
U – UNIVERSAL
L - LEVELS
The
illustration above simply means; when you acknowledge God first for any
gesture, breakthrough, success, deliverance, assistance, it gives you the right
room for returns (i.e. you gain more of good tidings) and this would
automatically take or lead you into enormous or plenty fruits (i.e. you get or
receive more divine blessings) from universal levels (i.e. you get favoured
from all walks of life, either from the young or old).
Would
you rather say a BIG THANK YOU TO GOD TODAY?

7 SUPER WAYS TO IMPROVE YOUR PERSUASION INSTINCTS
Persuasion is the ability to plead, inculcate, influence, advice, entreat and expostulate other people to draw or incline to a determination by presenting sufficient motives so as to cause them to believe whatever you table in front of them.
However, having this skill and making use of it to its optimal value will improve your social, business, relationship and educational lives.
Below are the seven super ways I recommend for you;
v BE NICE AND FRIENDLY:
Exchange of smiles and making sincere complements can go a long way to brighten up and raise the spirits of your partners is it in school, camps, church, and mosque or at your place of work. Always make sure they feel you would lend a hand whenever they need your support. This is very important as it would tend them to be more receptive, trust and respect you.
v ENTER THEIR WORLD:
You must be able to understand them very well. Set aside your personal interest and focus on them totally. Observe the way they act, how they speak, and how they think. If they speak at low pace, do so. If they fold their arms while they talk, do so. In essence, you are practically copying them. This method is known as mirroring. In due time, the people who you mirror will subconsciously feel more comfortable with you. But take note, do this with caution so they don’t interpret it as mockery.
v CONSISTENCY:
This technique rests on your ability to remain consistent with whatever you have promised. People who say one thing and then do another are generally unaccepted. In order to be accepted, you must stick to your words. It puts honour and integrity on your side. The more the person values these concepts in you, the more he/she will stick to your words. This works like magic and you can use it to your advantage.
v PROVIDE THEM WITH UNDENIABLE PROOF OR EVIDENCE:
This is very important. Explain to them how your opinions or ideas could be more efficient and effective enough to break even once implemented. Show them undeniable proofs that your opinions or ideas are the best, by the way of testimonials, and a detailed comparison against your competitors. Make sure all your dealings here are true and verifiable.
v GREED PAVES WAY:
It is evident that 70% of people are greedy. But when it comes to persuasion skills, greed is not something to frown upon. It’s something you use to get people aright where you want them. For instance, if you are into buying and selling, get people to buy your products by way of complements. Let them know the benefits of your product in their homes.
v ALWAYS USE THE WORD “because”:
It has become evident that the use of “because” in most of our sentences is low. Though, it is majorly used in writings.
Ponder on this scenario; you have been constantly living up to your spouse’s expectation but all of sudden things changed. An argument aroused and you want to plead for another chance. Instead of saying; “please give me another chance” say it this way; “please I deserve another chance because I always reached your expectations”. That word alone gives you an air of maturity and credibility that will always work to your advantage.
v SATISFY THEIR PRESENT NEED AND WANTS:
If you are self centered, I beseech you to stop it. It doesn’t go well with persuasion. Before a proposal of yours can be accepted by your colleagues or business partners, you will have to prove to them that it will provide more advantages to them than you. If you can concentrate more on their desires, needs, expectations and interests, then you would satisfy their cravings for attention. It would really show that you care about them. Then, a mutual trust and respect would be established.
This is the most important thing to note when persuading anyone. No matter how close you are to becoming like them or how compelling your evidence is, if it doesn’t satisfy the “WHAT CAN I BENEFIT FROM IT?” TEST, your persuasion endeavours will not produce satisfactory results!!!

YOUR SPEED DOES NOT MATTER
"RTYL" GROUP ON FACEBOOK
Hello friends, how have you been and hope all has been well?
I just want to recall our attention to one aspect of life we all fail to acknowledge.
We always want to do or get things accomplished in a haste. It's a good idea but have you ever had deep thoughts about "IT'S NOT HOW FAR BUT HOW WELL"?
It's definite that we all are not equal. Mr A. might take up a project and finish in less than one month and for Mr B, it could take him several months to accomplish it.
The joy and satisfaction here is that both accomplished the project execution.
Nontheless, assuming Mr. B entered into Mr.A's shoes, he might be forced to take haste by implementing unrighteous ways to getting the project accomplished. Therefore, he does this in high anxiety and leaves almost 50% of the project hapharzardly executed.
So, it really doesn't matter the momentum or speed at which you move but your ability to finish well.
Think smart....

STRIVE FOR PROGRESS, not perfection.
Writing the same things to you, to me is not grievous but for you, it is safe. Have you any idea, how often the people you admire got it wrong, half right, almost right, before they got it right? Making mistakes is the unenjoyable, unavoidable part of making progress. Therefore, I have come to realize and understand that it’s really a great privilege to keep reading, hearing and doing something in order to get it right.
On your pathway to progress, you get to meet with lots of virtue oriented personalities. Their status will not always measure up with your own standards. Let’s get more practical; assuming you interact with people having one, two, three, five talents. Your instinct will always lure you to compare yourself with them. That could be very disastrous.
Your talents, not your wish determines your potential. One talent people who make the most of what they’ve been given receive the same “well done” as five talent people. Dr John Maxwell says, “Your performance depends on your commitment to practice”. Consistently good practice leads to consistently good play. It sharpens you. Wise people understand this and develop the discipline to do it.
The most successful individuals today are ahead of the crowd because of the inclusion of these four words in their lives; “a little bit more”. Successful people do what is expected of them plus a little bit more. So, whenever you carry out those assignments to develop yourself, endeavor to spend a little more time on it.
This is my word for you this April; strive for progress, not perfection!

The Power of Imagination
Imagine yourself being driven in the latest Mercedes jeep model, wearing the latest U.S based designer suite, accompanied by a purpose driven better half with both of you, heading to your multinational company; whose net worth is over #3,000,000,000. Wouldn’t you think that is too much?
It’s 100% possible and can be realistic if:
1. You claimed it at its first thought.
2. Focus your mind at it.
3. Make possible efforts to achieving it.
The power of imagination can not be over emphasized. It is a completed mission in the mind. It only needs your tireless efforts to make it realistic.
Here are some of its abundant advantages:
1. Unleash Possibilities.
Utilizing the power of imagination applied to thought, we open doors to wondrous possibilities. Our mind is the canvas to which we can apply our creative imagination. What is on the inside becomes what is on the outside. We can do much to create the beauty around us.
“Limitations live only in our minds. But if we use our imagination, our possibilities become limitless.” Jamie Paolinetti
2. Aids in Problem Solving.
The use of imagination is not to be undermined because it grants us the power to change our life situation and to respond in more empowered ways. By asking what if, we give ourselves the permission to unstuck ourselves. We create new neuro-pathways instead of repeatedly running along the same track without any breakthroughs. Possibilities are only limited by the extent to which we open ourselves to unchartered frontiers. Freedom from fear takes us soaring!
“You can never solve a problem on the level on which it was created.” Albert Einstein
3. Stimulates your Creativity.
Without imagination, the mobile phones wouldn’t have eased communication, cars and planes wouldn’t have eased short and long distance journeys. There would be no internet or personal computers either. Of course, you can also question about the use of imagination in science and technology being used for war or unethical purposes. Well, the problem does not lie in imagination but the intent from which we are applying our creative minds to.“To raise new questions, new possibilities regard old problems from a new angle, it requires a whole lot of creative imagination and marks real advance in science.” Albert Einstein
4. Leads Us to Who We Are.
We are born with the faculties of imagination and creativity. Not using these faculties is like living the life of a robot. Allowing our busy careers and lifestyles run our lives kills our spirit. Yet, conventional norms will have us believe that it is okay to continue producing repetitive, boring and unstimulating work for the primary concern of paying the bills. And so it is that we feel empty. We go searching for happiness and fulfillment, never realizing that the answer all lie from within.
When we start to realise who we are, we get to know that we are beyond time, space, dimension and form. We begin to how truly powerful we are. We gain access to an inner power and strangely when we ask, we gain support from universal resources. We realize that our reality can be changed when we engage our creative imagination.“The creative is the place where no one else has ever been. You have to leave the city of your comfort and go into the wilderness of your intuition. What you will discover will be wonderful. What you will discover is yourself.” Alan Alda
5. Key to Visioning.
Imagination lets us see the possibilities of how we can represent our essence. Intention allows us to focus on where we wish to direct our energy. Add the ingredients of focused attention, belief, expectancy and persistency to the mixture. Then, we have the formula for visioning!
“Keep your dreams alive. The understanding to achieve anything requires faith and pure belief in your self, vision, hard work, determination, and dedication. Remember all things are possible for those who believe.” Gail Devers

PUT AWAY YOUR OLD MEASURING ROD.
Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think according to the power that works in us (Ephesians 3:20). There comes my question for you, “where does the source of your inspiration and strength come from?” If it’s from God, why then do you say; with my lack of education, limited income, lack of retentive memory, poor health, past mistakes, lack of proper home upbringing, thoughts of un forgiven sins; to mention a few, I don’t see how I can succeed.
When you make God your pillar, put away those old measuring rods. Even Ezekiel had a vision. Everything went on smoothly for him but at a time, he experienced difficulties not once, twice or thrice. But his source, God, assured him whenever he cried upon him that “Along the bank of the river will grow all kinds of trees used for food; their leaves will not wither and their fruits will not fail”.
Furthermore, even with those difficulties he faced, laid some little progress. He just posed those barriers to strengthen him. Though, nothing good comes easy. So, for you to appreciate His goodness, you must pass through trials. Better still, in Ezekiel’s case, God assured him that he will bear fruits every month because His source of inspiration and strength flows from the sanctuary.
Therefore friend, my therapy for you today to achieve immeasurable success is to make sure your source of strength and inspiration comes from God. He is the one who determines your future and decides your abundance. No matter who sows or who reaps, God gives the increase (1Cor 3:7).
Now, who determines the extent of your progress and abundance in that career of yours? Is it God? Then, PUT AWAY YOUR OLD MEASURING RODS AND FORGE AHEAD!!!
